RAF Polo Association

‘To encourage and facilitate the playing of polo in the RAF. To introduce the game to potential new players and to improve the skills and knowledge of those already playing."

History

The RAF Polo Association was started by enthusiasts in the early 1920′s and has continued intermittently until recently when there was a sudden surge of interest. The RAF host their opening weekend in the fantastic setting of RAF Cranwell in early May each year, with both military and civilian teams enterting the tournament.

Membership

The RAFPA has 58 members with handicaps from S to 0. With only seven pony owners, most players hire horses for the matches. Chukkas and instructionals are subsidised by the RAFPA both at Tidworth and Cranwell Polo Clubs.

Tours

The RAF has been on tour to Ghana, Pakistan, South Africa, Argentina and lately New Zealand, for the third year running.
